Ph.D. Program
The research activity of the Ph.D. is focused on the possibility of making accessible and understandable all the information contained in a geological map, hitherto subject to interpretation through expert judgments of the users, through the realization of “user-friendly” digital tools, to be used on open access software, in order to make interoperable all the information concerning surface geology, generally stored in GIS environment, with subsurface geology data, commonly processed and managed on dedicated software. The tools themselves are to be designed with the aim of providing immediate reading elements of subsurface characteristics, for the benefit of geo-database users who are not necessarily experts in the field of Geological Sciences. In this sense, the idea is to address the operators, in their different areas of expertise, of the agencies in charge of managing natural hazards, among them seismic risk and hydrogeological instability. Looking forward, the intention is also to provide training and dissemination opportunities for new generations who want to approach Earth science issues.
